What are OA Meetings?
Recovery from compulsive eating and compulsive food behaviours starts with attending meetings. Perth OA meetings are either face-to-face, online via Zoom or hybrid (mix of face-to-face and online). All meetings run for one hour.
What to expect at an OA meeting
Going to your first meeting is daunting, we get it! We have all gone to our first meeting ourselves and understand it can be nerve-wracking. But there’s nothing to be nervous about. You will be welcomed as soon as you arrive and will meet other people just like you.
Every meeting is different but usually we will read OA-approved readings, hear members share their journeys, and learn more about OA. Participate as much or as little as you want. You are welcome to share but you don’t have to.
We recommend turning up a few minutes before the meeting’s scheduled start time to introduce yourself and settle in before the meeting begins. If you have questions, you can talk with individual members after the meeting.
Do you need to pay to attend a meeting?
OA is fully self-supporting relying on our own contributions. When people become members, they often voluntarily contribute, but it’s never required.
